Why Divi Nitro 5.0 matters

Most speed plugins are built for “generic WordPress.” Divi sites are different: Theme Builder layouts, Visual Builder, Dynamic Assets, Critical CSS, and often several Divi Engine plugins working together.

Nitro 5.0 is built around that reality. You get strong Core Web Vitals–friendly tools, with Divi-safe defaults and Divi Engine–aware protections so performance features do not break filters, forms, memberships, mega menus, or locked content.

What’s new in Divi Nitro 5.0

One-click Performance Presets

Not sure where to start? Choose a profile and apply it in one click:

• Safe — conservative optimizations
• Balanced — a strong everyday setup
• Aggressive — maximum performance for sites that can handle it

Balanced and Aggressive can turn on anonymous Page Cache when another cache plugin is not already active. Your custom exclusions, minify queues, and video preferences are left alone.

Page Cache (built for Divi)

Anonymous HTML caching is now part of Nitro, with Smart or Full page modes.

Highlights:

• Theme Builder–aware cache clearing
• Dynamic regions (so things like the mini cart can stay live)
• Adaptive TTL, cache warming, and analytics
• Optional Redis, Cloudflare, and Nginx purge support
• A Cached pages list
• Admin bar clear for this page or all pages

Divi Engine aware by design:

• Ajax Filter URLs can cache separately
• Protect unlock cookies skip cache (locked and unlocked pages stay separate)
• Membership account paths are excluded
• Mega Menu Ajax Loaded URLs bypass cache
• Form Builder edit/payment URLs skip cache
• Cookie skip settings, plus an optional toggle to avoid caching filtered Ajax Filter URLs

This is the difference between a generic cache and a cache that understands a Divi Engine stack.

Smart Image Loading

Smart Image Loading replaces the older Defer Images approach. Choose:

• Smart lazy with LCP protection
• Classic onload defer
• Off

You can also control loading per module on Image, Fullwidth Image, Gallery, and Blurb with Load immediately or Lazy load.

Section background images load near the viewport (with early-load distance), while the first LCP background stays visible.

Lazy Rendering

For long pages, Lazy Rendering can delay painting far-below-the-fold Divi sections so the page feels faster sooner.

It is opt-in (and included in the Aggressive preset). When page cache is involved, Nitro can remember below-the-fold sections for a better first paint.

Delay JavaScript

Delay JavaScript until the visitor interacts — or after a short timeout.

jQuery and Divi Engine form/filter scripts stay immediate by default. Divi Engine scripts also stay out of Minify and Delay JavaScript by default, so filters and forms keep working while the rest of the page gets lighter.

Speculative Loading (WordPress 6.8+)

Prefetch or prerender the next page with safe exclusions for cart, checkout, and account areas — so store and membership flows are not aggressively preloaded by mistake.

Fonts & Resource Hints

• font-display: swap for Google Fonts
• Preload critical fonts
• Preconnect to Google Fonts, YouTube, Vimeo, or custom hosts

Small changes that help fonts and embeds start loading sooner.

Smart Minify suggestions & Frontend Asset Helper

Minify is easier to manage:

• Smart suggestions in Minify settings
• Frontend Asset Helper in the admin bar to review scripts and styles
• Apply safe queues
• Clear Minify Cache quickly

Admin-only items stay hidden from public queues, and Divi/protected items are kept out of queues that would break the site. Items already queued are pre-checked so you can see what is already in place.

Database Cleanup

Clear out the clutter that slows WordPress over time:

• Revisions, auto-drafts, trash, spam, and expired transients
• Table optimization
• Optional weekly runs
• Live counts and a progress modal while cleaning

Debug tools (without deactivating Nitro)

Need to test whether Nitro is involved in an issue?

• Temporarily disable all Nitro performance features without deactivating the plugin
• Optional Page Cache debug logging with a log viewer you can copy or export

Clear Divi’s CSS cache from Nitro

When Nitro settings or minify cache update, Divi’s CSS cache can be cleared. You can also clear it from the Divi Nitro admin bar — fewer “I changed a setting but still see old CSS” moments.

Divi 5 page settings

In the Visual Builder (shared with the WordPress meta box), remove specific scripts and styles from a page when you need a leaner frontend for that layout.

Defer Video for Divi 5

Defer Video is ready for Divi 5 in the Visual Builder, including conversion from the Divi 4 module.

Also included:

• Aspect ratio options
• Keyboard-friendly play controls
• ACF OEmbed/image selection for dynamic videos
• Matching Divi 4 or Divi 5 assets loaded when the module is on the page

A clearer Nitro Settings hub

Nitro now lives in a single Nitro Settings experience under the Divi Engine admin menu:

• Clearer navigation
• Minify under Scripts & CSS
• Renamed sections such as WordPress Cleanup and Browser Caching
• Grouped sidebar intros
• Your existing options kept

Page Cache settings also surface useful status details: store backend, Redis status, object-cache detection, Cloudflare last-purge status, TTL quick badges, and clearer hit-rate help.

How to get started with 5.0

1. Update Divi Nitro to 5.0.
2. Open Divi Engine → Nitro Settings.
3. Check Performance Insights for a quick score and suggestions.
4. Apply a Performance Preset (start with Balanced if you are unsure).
5. If you run other Divi Engine plugins, keep them updated too – Page Cache protections work best when the suite is current.
6. Test key pages: homepage, shop/cart/checkout (if you have them), forms, filters, membership account pages, and locked content.

If something looks off, use Nitro’s temporary disable option before deactivating the whole plugin – it is the fastest way to confirm whether a performance feature is involved.
